long as they used offi cially-issued hardware.
We applauded the choice of choosing all
components, from processors to motherboards,
from the same factory batches. Although no binning
stripped out the best and worst processors, the
playing fi eld felt more even than previous events.
Unlike AOCC and GOOC, there was no record
breaking sessions... for obvious reasons, frankly.
The competition and rules were put together
by Norway’s Stoolman, who’d helped make the
European event so good. The scoring system used
was based on percentage increases in scores over
a test rig running at stock. The team who beat
those scores by the highest combined percentage,
won. All results needed to be screen captured with
several elements including event logo captured:
this was unnecessarily annoying according to
some competitors. Coolaler was also on hand as a
consultant and he gave a demonstration
to spectators too.

it was just a matter of letting the results rip and
tweaking what little there was left.
One of the fi rst off the blocks was Team Australia
with a solid low 8secs which they pushed into the
high 7s. Progression was constant until the CPU
scaling was halted due to a lack of additional volts
and vcore mod simply didn’t work (the team later
found out that the head judge had given them the
wrong contact points).
Sitting like a duck in front of a shooting
range during hunting season, they were quickly
surrounded and other teams stormed into the 7secs
range. With the top nine teams getting under 8secs,
the fi ght was on.
The focus within the competition boundaries was
so intense, you could take a suicide shot and dance
around on fi re and the competitors wouldn’t have
blinked an eyelid. You could see the relief etched on
gprhellas’ face as he fi nally posted a competitive
result for Greece.
Ultimately though, this battle was won by
