PROCESS
CONTINUED
When did it all start and how did it all come
together?
I met Georgios, the other graphic designer in our
company, on the first day of design school. We
both expressed the desire to learn how to silkscreen
graphics, especially on garments. We
took over a small studio space in the basement
of our school and began experimenting with various
silk-screening techniques and even invented
some of our own. When we began printing
graphics on everything with every opportunity
possible, and we called ourselves Epidemik Coalition
(which is the name of our graphic design
company now). Shortly after that, we started to
receive local and national recognition for our
hand-screened graphic tees. We continued creating
graphic tees under the EC name while in
school, but upon graduation, we reappropriated
that name for our design company and decided
to start a cohesive line under a different name,
thus the birth of Process.
What direction were the designs heading for in
the early stages?
Well we wanted to make sure we developed a
visual language that made sense with our backgrounds
and aesthetics. If you take a look at our
mood boards, you’ll see personal references
drawn from our backgrounds, ideals, and influences
such as revolutionary art, Greek iconography,
punk rock, Hitchcock films, quality photography,
mythology and a serious overtone.
