What are the key trends for autumn?
Oversized chunky knitwear – especially the
cream cardigan with horn buttons by Gucci
or the oversized cable knits by Burberry
Prorsum. Volume in general is a big trend,
as well as patent accessories, such as
those at Prada, Neil Barrett and Lanvin.
What are your best sellers? The Lanvin
duffle coat with elasticated cuffs (we only
have one left), Miu Miu’s fine-gauge knits,
and the bronze oversized knit by Dolce &
Gabbana. Anything military-inspired, such

as the Balenciaga jacket with epaulettes.
In fact, all of the investment pieces – we’ve
seen very little resistance to high price
points this season.
Which is your favourite designer or
brand at the moment? Burberry Prorsum.
I love the label’s Victorian ankle boots and
military-style jackets with brass buttons.
Who is the new name to watch?
Young Canadian designer Todd Lynn,
which is new to us. Most of his pieces are
androgynous and can be worn by either
sex. I also love Deuxième, a lesser-known
label from Italy – its gold-buttoned navy
blazer is to die for.
What is autumn’s must-have item?
The Deuxième pea coat with wire collar.
What is the key accessory of the
season? Pierre Hardy’s high-top trainers
in elephant grey and white.
What one item should we invest in?
An Alexander McQueen three-piece dinner
suit with satin lapels.

David Walker-Smith,

What are the key trends for autumn?
Metallics, a return to retro style and
late-Eighties tailoring – especially the
pleated trouser. The satin suitings
at Dries van Noten spring to mind.
Navy blue is a key colour.
What are your best sellers? Mix ’n’ match
pieces from Dries van Noten and cut-andsew
separates by Raf Simons and Prada.
Which is your favourite designer or
brand at the moment? Definitely Dries
van Noten. It’s his best collection for a long
time and encompasses all of the season’s
important elements. It’s elegant, wearable,
directional and slightly serious.
Who is the new name to watch?
PRPS jeans. They’re a baggier style of
denim that is moving away from the
skinnier fit that has been popular in the
past few seasons.
What is autumn’s must-have item?
A platinum ring with a diamond set into
it – it’s all about commitment for me
this season. Oh, and a Raf Simons
metallic-silver fitted shirt.
What is the key accessory of the
season? A black Prada nylon rucksack,
a nod back to the early Nineties.
What one item should we invest in?
A wardrobe full of Miu Miu shirts. I
personally can’t get enough of them.
