people into contact with music
and musicians every year. LSO
Discovery is for everyone, so why not

Last season LSO musicians reached out
to 18,000 children in concerts, 5,000
in workshops, 500 teachers in training
opportunities and over 20,000 adults in
activities at Barbican and LSO St Luke’s

Jason Yarde is one of the many success
stories of the Panufnik Young Composers
Scheme. He has worked on many
collaborations with the LSO and on Thursday
10 December Hugh Masekela and the LSO

Once they’re hooked
The LSO Discovery String Experience
scheme has already produced 14 LSO
players, including Sarah Quinn, who is
now a mentor on the scheme. In 2010,
20 young string players will work with
LSO Principals at the week-long LSO
St Luke’s Academy
Sing your heart out
The LSO is proud to have two successful
amateur choirs, the LSO St Luke’s Youth
and Community choirs, led by Animateur
Gareth Malone. Gareth’s inspired teaching
was also seen in BBC’s The Choir and
Boys Don’t Sing
