66 IndyCarSeries 2007 Review
Favorite country musician
Clay Walker and George Strait are really the
ones I like.
Favorite rock ‘n’ roll song
I Can’t Drive 55 by Sammy Hagar.
Favorite sport
Racing has been my love sport all my life,
and it’ll be that way until I die.
Favorite road car
Whatever is around. I drive pickups more
than anything. I got a GT40; I got stopped
running 165[mph] in it when they delivered
it to me. But I was just cuttin’ up a little bit.
A.J. Foyt’s favorite things
For Super Tex, everything is super about Texas, including the ice cream
Favorite driver
You’ve got some good young race drivers,
some of them who stand out, but I’ve never
had a favorite driver. I’ve never been a hero
worshipper.
Favorite indulgence
I guess one of my favorites would be
food. I love ice cream. I like the Blue Bell ®
Homemade Vanilla, because you can make
a Coca-Cola ® float or a hot fudge sundae
with it.
Favorite food
Since I can afford it, where I used to not,
steak.
Favorite place
I enjoy Texas; I was born and raised there.
But I like anywhere they sell good steaks.
Favorite ranch chore
Getting on my bulldozer and clearing land. I
really enjoy it because people can’t bother
me. That’s the best hobby I got.
Favorite livestock
I don’t think one’s any better than another. I
just enjoy animals.
Favorite IndyCar Series city
Indianapolis. It’s a great city. I’ve spent a lot
of time there, and if I wasn’t living in
Houston, Texas, I’d probably like to live there.
Favorite track
Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I’ve won a lot
of money there.
Favorite trophy
The Indy 500’s my favorite. I’ve got
Le Mans, I’ve got Daytona, I’ve got Sebring,
but I’d say the Indy 500’s my favorite trophy.
The first one, especially, and the fourth one,
being the first one to win it four times.
Favorite race car
It’s really hard. I guess all of them at one
time or another were my favorite, it would be
hard to pick one over the other. I guess the
one that we built and had my own motor in
it that we won Indy with for the fourth time,
the Coyote with the A.J. Foyt V8 Ford in it.
Least favorite near-death experience
When I turned the dozer over a few weeks
ago. I thought it was over with when I went
upside down in the pond. It was kind of a
freak deal, but that’s the way people get
killed. I kinda looked down and kissed my
ass goodbye, because I thought it was
over with. Then there was the African
bees that got me when I was on the
dozer. I think next time I’ll have a cab
and air conditioning.
