Two 18-wheelers are maneuvered into position to form a
right angle. When the retractable stage is lowered and the
portable gaming stations are rolled off the trailer, the
weekend party is officially open.
The Indy Fan Zone is the centerpiece of the midway at
IndyCar Series races in North America – not solely because
of its size, but because of the crowd always milling about.
Featuring interactive games, historic displays and a stage for
driverand celebrity Q&A sessions and giveaways, ticket holders
will be primed forthe on-trackaction. Two ofthe new
Indy 500 Legends games forthe Nintendo Wii – where
you can race against the likes ofA.J. Foyt and RickMears
at the Brickyard – will be available.
A driver experience station gives fans a chance to
listen to driver radio communication with their
spotter from an ’07 event. Display cases feature
driver gear and helmets, the IndyCar Series and
Firestone championship trophies, and the Ritmo
Mundo IndyCar Series championship watch.
The Indy Fan Zone also hosts pre-race parties for
members of INDY DownForce, the official fan club
of the IndyCar Series. Driver meet and greets,
autograph sessions and prize giveaways are perks of
membership! Naturally, there’s an online sign-up
station to become a member and join the party.
