publishers we have valued
the insights and feedback
that is now helping us
shape our market and

activity. A key highlight
from the past year has been
the joint working with
the PPA and its members

forward to this developing
further over the
coming year.”

HELPING MEMBERS SAVE
MONEY
Helping members save money is one
of PPA’s key aims, and the two
benchmarking services on offer help
to deliver tangible cost savings for
members. The PPA cost and revenue
benchmarking scheme, relaunched
in October 2007 as a free service,
enables publishers to benchmark
their magazine revenues and
production costs against a selection
of competitors. In addition the PPA
salary survey continues to provide
cost savings through the provision
of details of labour turnover and

FIT FOR THE FUTURE
RELAUNCHED PUBLICATIONS
PPA has relaunched both its quarterly
outward facing magazine title
Magazine News, and its monthly
newsletter in the past year. Both have
been given a fresh look and feel with
easy to follow navigation and some
heavyweight interviews, including
Martin Sorrell CEO of WPP for the
relaunch issue of Magazine
News. So far there has been very
positive feedback on the redesign
from advertisers and agencies.
A new initiative in the newsletter is
that there is a new member focus in
each issue.
MEMBER SERVICES / 29
MEMBERS WHO participate in PPA activities,
whether via a committee, attending events,
or participating in training courses, gain the
most value from membership. Every effort is
made to ensure members are aware of the
services and opportunities available and in
turn ensure that the business issues of
members are taken into account for
planning purposes. Recognising the needs
of members, PPA will be expanding services
vertically through the three pillars of
consumer, customer and business media
in the core activities of print, online and
face-to-face.
