PTC was recognised for
demonstrating outstanding
achievement in training and was
honoured with a National Training
Award for the PPA Diploma in
Publishing. The nationally
recognised diploma, which has been
benchmarked against Masters level
qualifications for the second
consecutive year, also received a
comprehensive review to ensure it
continues to reflect developments
in digital publishing and the
industry’s focus on cross-platform
brand extensions.

THE GRADUATE
The PPA Editorial Diploma
produced its first cohort of
successful graduates and feedback
from the qualification has been
incredibly positive. Lindsay Cook,
MD Specialist Markets,
CMPInformation said:“During the
PPA Editorial Diploma both of our
first graduates, Jo Haynes and Gary
Paragpuri were promoted to the role
of editor of two of our weekly titles.
The course, particularly the finance,
online and design modules have

GET ON THE SCENE
PTC’s brand new careers guide, Mag
Scene, has been published and has
been distributed free to universities,
careers centres, schools and
publishers throughout the UK.
The guide is aimed at those
interested in careers in magazine
and business media and provides
information on a range of publishing
sectors and job roles.

PTC IS PROUD TO LAUNCH the first
industry-wide media sales
awards in March 2008. The
‘Top Dog’awards which recognise
and celebrate the hard work and
achievements of sales staff whose
important contribution makes
our industry the thriving success
it is today.
The first quarter of next year
will also see the unveiling of the
PTC online jobs board which
will advertise vacancies across
the industry.
Other priorities include the launch
of the PPA Digital Diploma and the
development of an advertising sales
qualification, aimed at new and
aspiring commercial directors.

talent is vital to the future of our industry.As
chair of the ETCC,along with the other
committee members and the director of PTC,
I help carry out the assessment of PTC’s
accredited journalism courses to ensure they
produce competent new entrants with the
required skills and knowledge to take directly
into the workplace.”
