Microsharp is a small, innovative R&D company, developing optical
films, integrated display screens, and optical modules in the areas of
displays, security, illumination and renewable energy. Our technologies
include diffusers, brightness enhancement films, solar
concentrators, rear projection screens and light guide products based
on novel polymeric structures. We currently have two vacancies:
HEAD OF ENGINEERING
To undertake a primary engineering role for Microsharp. This post
would suit a professional, skilled and competent individual, able to
understand, develop and communicate technical and engineering
issues relative to our products and bespoke client applications.
The role will include mechanical design and drafting of technical
documents, drawings and presentations, to support development
projects. Proficient with CAD, AutoCAD, Solidworks and able to lead
and provide technical engineering guidance to non-technical
contacts when required. Project management skills and line
management experience are required.
Minimum BEng degree or HND Diploma in an engineering discipline.
The position involves design of tooling and machinery including
diamond-turning machines for micro-structuring, coating and
lamination equipment for film and screen production. Experience of
optical measurement and micro-measurement methods and
technology would be desirable (but not essential).
LEAD PRODUCTION ENGINEER
To undertake production and engineering functions for Microsharp.
Responsible for manufacture of film based products, displays and
optical devices. Measurement, coating, lamination processes, UV
curing and operation of reel-to-reel machinery, adhering to safety and
quality requirements.
HND diploma in manufacturing or production engineering discipline.
Experience in a technical coating or printing industry involving
reel-to-reel web coating would be advantageous. Assisting with
design of tooling and machinery, the suitable candidate will be able
to provide engineering guidance and support when required. CAD
experience using AutoCAD and Solidworks. Ability to maintain stock
inventories, data and records. This position requires a practical
hands-on approach, applying good organisational and working
practices.
Both of the above posts are full-time, permanent positions, which
carry a 6-month probation.
