MY CV
Describe yourself in one

friendly and incredibly
impulsive.
What have been your
greatest professional
achievements over the
past year? As I was living
in Egypt until recently, it
would have to be starting my
current job with Gold Medal.
What has been your
biggest challenge in your
job? This is my first business
development role, so
learning everything I could
from my colleagues before
heading out on the road in
January was a challenge.
What’s it like to work for: Carrick Travel
What’s the company
culture like?
Carrick Travel is a very
friendly organisation that
looks after the travel needs of
the local community. We pride
ourselves on the exceptional
travel knowledge offered by
our many long-serving staff,
many of whom have worked
with us for more than 15 years.
What has set the company
apart from its competitors?
Having been in business for
36 years, we have a very loyal

What are the employee

What are your strengths in

me better at my job.
What are your weaknesses
in the workplace and how
do you try to overcome
them? I like to fix everything
and I am super-organised. I
have to accept that sometimes
I am not able to do everything
I want to do.
What are the best and
worst parts of your job?
The best are my colleagues
and the agency staff that I
deal with every day. The
worst . . . so far, nothing at all,
I’m loving it.
Tell us about your
professional background
I started my career with Lunn
Poly after leaving college
and completed its modern
apprenticeship programme.
I then moved on to MyTravel
and have since worked in
business travel and for an
Italian operator in Egypt, so
it has been incredibly varied.
I love the fact that the travel
industry is ever-changing
and you are constantly
learning and developing
yourself every day.

example, we ran a Christmas
Advent Campaign: thanks to
our preferred suppliers we
were able to offer many gifts,
overnight accommodation
and hampers etc, which was a
huge hit with the staff.
What sort of attributes do
you look for in staff?
The ability to offer exceptional
customer service is a must!
Life skills, maturity, a sense
of humour and a “can do”
approach to work would be
top of our list of requirements.
In-depth travel knowledge
of the more unusual
destinations and a desire
to learn and experience
different parts of the world
are all key attributes.
