Etihad’s vetting
left us vexed
When did it become the
norm for airlines to give you
authority to issue tickets only
once they know how much
business you will do with
them? In this tough climate
you would think that airlines
would be biting your hand off
to book with them – not so!
Last October, a colleague
tried to price an itinerary
with Etihad, but the GDS
would not allow it. After some
investigation, we found that
Etihad had done a clear-up
and we are no longer in
possession of a carrier
identification plate.
On emailing our contact I
was told I had to justify why
we wanted it re-activated!
Did I hear that correctly?
We then had to justify why
we should book with them.
Has the industry changed
that much that we have to
prove our worth? Shouldn’t
it be the other way round?
Well, must dash: I have an
Emirates flight to book.

My husband works
