436 TENSAR’S STABILISING INFLUENCE
ON NEW LINK ROAD
Tensar International’s new TriAx geogrid has been used to stabilise the
ground for a section of the new link road near Wakefield in Yorkshire, which had
to pass over marshland. A reinforced basal drainage blanket was originally
chosen but proved insufficient. Tensar International was then approached to
propose an alternative high performance geogrid solution that could achieve a
better quality of stabilisation for the subsequent construction stages. In addition, a
layer of TriAx was also proposed for the sub-base layer in the pavement
foundation for the highway, after the bulk fill and capping layer had been placed.
