Building on the success of the GX7 machine, the new GX7+ and GLX
autoloader enhances regrind shops ability to run unmanned operations,
while still maintaining the high level of flexibility this market requires.

REGRINDING shops face specific challenges in terms of
productivity. Being an on-demand service, it is often not
possible to group tools together to make the larger runs that
provide economies of scale. With batch runs as low as one tool,
resharpening has been a very labour-intensive operation,
requiring regular changes in program, collet and wheel packs.
The new GX7+ includes a seven-station wheel changer that
increases the number of grinding wheels available to the
operator. Further productivity is gained when the machine is
installed with the newly developed 84 tool GLX auto loader,
making it a truly hands-off regrinder.
Anca International Marketing Manager Duncan
Thompson is confident of the future of the GX7+/GLX
combination after its successful introduction at EMO in September. ‘Looking at the
needs of today’s tool regrind shops, we could see that improved flexibility and
automation was a key to remaining competitive.’ The GX7+ wheel changer is fully
contained within the machine’s canopy, avoiding any increase in machine footprint.
With a capacity of seven packs, operators can now grind a terrific variety of tools
without the need to stop the machine and change wheel packs. This system uses an
HSK32E arbor that provides both face and taper contact with the 9.5 kW spindle,
which results in precise and repeatable location of the wheel pack every time. In
response to market needs to further enhance the system, ANCA designed the GLX
auto loader. The GLX houses up to 84 tools, but it is the unique collet changing
capability that unleashes enhanced flexibility to grind different tool diameters and
types all in the same setup. www.anca.com
