LATEST Deckel Maho HSC 55Vlinear,
vertical machining centre has 80m/min
linear drives and 28,000revs/min spindle. Based on a portal concept, the
machine provides working volume of 450 in X, 600 in Y, 400mm in Z.
Direct drive torque motors provide simultaneous swivel and rotary table
movement of the 400mm square clamping surface; direct measuring
systems ensure accurate positioning and repeatability. The A-axis swivels
+10/-110 degrees, the C-axis rotates up to 120revs/min with maximum
table loading of 200kg. As standard the 29kW, 25Nm torque HSK-A63
spindle delivers 28,000revs/min; a higher power option has 46kW and
80Nm with a top speed of 18,000revs/min. A high speed 42,000revs/min
spindle comes with 13kW drive, HSK-E50 spindle nose.
A 16 pocket (optional 30 or 60 pocket) magazine offers chip-to-chip times
within 2.8 seconds. Laser tool measurement can be supplied. A pallet
system is available for to 20 workpieces for unmanned running, with the
automated loading system activated from the rear of the machine using the
portal construction as a gateway into the working zone. Control is via DMG's
ERGOline system, combined with DMG’s SlimLinePanel operating console,
enabling the operator to ergonomically adjust screen and keyboard position.
Optional controls are Siemens 840D Solutionline or Heidenhain iTNC 530
incorporating 3-D workpiece simulation. www.gildemeister.com

THE CMZ 45-model TC range includes short and long-bed versions with
Y-axis, sub-spindle and driven tooling – in chuck sizes from 150 up to
500mm. Philosophy of the Bilbao-based company is to keeps costs down by
using common elements throughout the range, but using similar bearings,
drives, spindles and controls as found on a quality Japanese machine.
The machines have a cast iron bed, machined, heat treated and ground
in-house, and include box-section guideways. Strength and rigidity of the
machines mean they can cope with tough materials and heavy duty cycles.
All the models have integral oil-cooled spindle motors on main and
sub-spindles – with spindle power up to 48kW and 17kW driven tooling.
There is a choice of steadies for long-bed machines – up to a full ballscrew
axis, while a gantry version in the pipeline will allow full unmanned
production from billet or bar.
TC machines accommodate Y-axis movement of 140mm (-60mm to
+80mm,) with big guide-ways and a raised centre height. This allows the
use of a larger turret disk, so that all but
the very largest machines have 16 stations,
all with driven tooling. A VDI turret
option is offered at no extra charge and all
tooling is interchangeable with CMZ’s
existing TL range of machines.
CMZ will have seven machines at
MACH 2008, including two from the TC
range and models from its TB and TL
ranges. www.cmz.co.uk
