The focus for Mori Seiki is ‘Pure Technology’ with eight machine tools, including
new machining centres and lathes, on show.
Mori Seiki (machining): Stand 5280
MORI SEIKI’s stand features eight machine tools,
including the new NMV5000 DCG 5-axis
machining centre; the NZ2000 T2Y2 multiaxis
turning centre with two spindles, two
turrets and two Y axes; the
NT4250/1500 SZ mill-turn
centre; two NL series lathes;
the NH5000 twin pallet
horizontal machining centre;
a DuraTurn 2550; and a
DuraVertical 5100.
‘Pure Technology’ applies
to all machines on the stand
and encompasses DCG (Driven
at the Centre of Gravity), DDM (Direct Drive
Motor), ORC (Octagonal Ram Construction) and
BMT (Built-in Motor Turret) to achieve low levels of
vibration and high levels of rigidity and speed.
The new NMV5000 uses DCG, DDM and ORC
technology. Twin lead screws on both Y and Z axes
move the machine through its centre of gravity,
eliminating out of balance forces. Direct drive
motors on B and C axes achieve precise, backlash-

We Own Precision
Vlier has set the industry standard for excellence since 1943, crafting the
highest quality, most precisely designed components in the business.
With a legacy that began with the famed “Vlier Pin,” Vlier has leveraged
advanced technologies and an obsession for quality to become the tooling

free rotary movements, and produce 1200rev/min
on the B axis as well as a 340 degrees range on the
C axis. Symmetrical design of the octagonal ram
on the Z axis combines rigidity with
thermal stability.
Both turrets on the NZ2000
T2Y2 use BMT. The built in motors
eliminate vibration associated with
gears and belts, offer lower heat
development characteristics,
improve power transmission and
accuracy. An option is a third lower
turret which uses an ORC
octagonal ram, compensating for
thermal distortion and allowing stable linear
guidance at high speed.
In addition to the NT4250/1500 SZ, Mori Seiki
will be displaying a second NT machine
‘undressed’ so that visitors will be able to see the
engineering behind its ‘Pure Technology’, as well
as the massive castings which go into every
machine the company supplies.

system, gets its own area. Simplicity of operation,
3D functionality and collision avoidance are
features necessary to cope with increasing
complexity of its new machines. Integrating
machines via a network is a useful aid to
productivity. MORI-NET, eases the management of
NC programmes, allows communication with the
machine operator, and offers real-time monitoring
of machine performance.
Mandrels and jaws from Tobler workholding, a
recent acquisition by Mori Seiki, will be displayed
as well as information about, and products
manufactured on, DIXI machines. Mori Seiki
acquired the Swiss machine manufacturer in
January 2007 to expand its product range and offer
a complete integrated service to its customers.
