Commercial Division
As a new sector, the Commercial Division is
obviously unable to give a review of the last financial
year, however in our infancy we can highlight our
ambitions for the future.
Already we have undertaken an audit of our offering
and we have started working to secure new
income streams for the business. Our main focus
is on the commercial development of all aspects of
SECC’s brand value across the physical site and its
virtual community and we have appointed a new
Commercial Manager to champion this.
Early initiatives involve identifying prospects for
large and small format brand promotion in the
internal and external public areas of the SECC.
This will be on the basis of long term commitments
and short event related offerings. Poster sites along
our boundary with the expressway are also under
consideration as are ideas around enhancing the
walkway to the station.
On the virtual side, our corporate and ticketing
web presence is being revamped and this will
create advertising and partner opportunities on
both websites. Indeed partnerships will play a
major role in the development of this sector of our
business, especially when it come to securing title
sponsorship and tiered level sponsorship for our
new £100 million Scottish National Arena, for which
discussions have commenced.
Our ticketing business, the only part of our
commerce where growth is not constrained by the
physical boundaries of our venue, is high on our
agenda. We will be rebranding with a view to further
grow our external ticketing activities.
In-house we have a wealth of experience and
expertise, which we will call upon to exploit the
venue management opportunities which may
present over the next few years.
