conventional gauges often use a square column (intrinsically easier to
manufacture). The metrological properties of the triangular shape are
well known; its 3-point location system delivers benefits for accuracy and
stability.
Blum NovoTest developments on show included the new LaserControl
NT-H 3D for multi-functional mill/turn machine tools, the TC76-N touch
probe for turning centres and round work applications, plus the new TC53-
10 and TC53-20 infrared touch probes developed to for accurate
measurement of components and cutting tools. Alongside these the
LaserControl NT-H 3D provides mechanical measurement of non-rotating
tools in five approach directions plus non-contact measurement of rotating
tools - also developed to cater for the increasing use of mill/turn centres.
Turning tools are traditionally measured with a laser and milling tools use a
mechanical probe; the NT-H 3D thus significantly improves setting times.
The new TC76-N touch probe for turning centres and round work
applications introduced Blum’s Shark 360 multi direction measurement
technology. Through its patented design the TC76-N probe houses a
measuring mechanism with face gear that significantly increases accuracy
when performing off-centre probing by using cranked styli.
