XP1600 high speed bridge-type VMC has a table size of 1.9
by 1.3m with axis strokes of 1,600mm in X, 1,300mm in Y
and 700mm in Z. The table is driven by large diameter pretensioned
ballscrew and is supported by roller linear
guideways with eight blocks to spread the load to the Tshaped
Meehanite cast base. One visitor to the show,
Carmarthenshire-based EBS Automation, has already
ordered an XP 1600. Remaining with the heavy duty
theme, the new Famup MMV200-80 Linear moving
column VMC from Ward Hi-Tech is designed for
machining both long workpieces and if required smaller
components utilising a programmable centre partition
guard enabling pendulum machining to take place.
Turning up the heat
Transferring the focus to the many new turning centres on
view, the Takisawa Taiwan EX-322 from Ward CNC is a 3axis
version of the EX-122/H boasting a C-axis and driven
tools. While elsewhere at the show, the new Gildemeister
CTX Beta 1250 TC represents the mid-range of the high
powered ‘fifth-generation’ of Gildemeister CTX Alpha,
Beta and Gamma universal turning centres.
Miyano Machinery UK (formerly Macro CNC) used
MACH to introduce three new fixed head turning centres
to the UK, including the ABX-64TH3 10-axis, three turret
model, one of which was sold on day two of the show to
Reliance Precision of Cork, Ireland. Elsewhere at MACH,
XYZ Machine Tools introduced a new CNC turning centre
in the shape its Compact Turn 52. The machine lives up to
its name by combining a 20hp (15kW/5000revs/min)
