Components Worldwide
‘Transformed from a specialist gear manufacturer to a company now offering a full range of machining
capability and components sourced worldwide - maintaining high quality but at reduced prices’
COMPONENTS Worldwide is a trading name of Mini Gears. This reflects a new marketing strategy aimed at
finding customers worldwide; it was felt that the name ‘Mini Gears’ was possibly confusing to potential customers
as small gears now represent less than 2% of turnover. Over the past few years the company has been transformed
from being a specialist gear manufacturer only, to one which can offer a full range of machining capacity
includingthe latest Mazak 5 axis turning-milling centres. It now supplies a huge range of machined components to
all types of industries. www.componentsworldwide.com
Best Health, Safety and Environmental Practice

Fife Fabrications
'Monitoring processes and emissions; applying specific training; being involved in local green initiatives - clearly
committed to best practice in all aspects of health, safety and environmental performance - a worthy winner'
FIFE Fabrications has been BS EN ISO 14001:1996 accredited since September 18th 2000 and has successfully
made the transition from the 1996 version to the 2004 version, with accreditation, which was achieved in
February 2006. The company has a permit from SEPA (part B) to cover particulate air emissions from its paint
processes; this is tightly monitored and audited. It buys the latest capital equipment which is fully compliant
with the latest EU legislation on noise, vibration etc - eg new Mori Seiki lathes and a new turret punching
machine. Risk assessments ensure Fife is COSHH compliant. For financial year 2007 Fife recorded 31 minor
accidents, mostly minor cuts. This equates to 67 hours lost through accidents out of 247,000 hours worked. The
target had been to lose less than 0.3 working days per employee per annum - the trade association benchmark;
it actually recorded just 0.06 days lost per employee per annum, well under target. www.fifab.com
