Wavegen is a world leader in Wave Energy Technology, with
unrivalled operating experience. The Limpet plant on Islay is
the world’s first commercial scale grid-connected wave
energy plant and provides a unique test bed for product
development. Wavegen is a wholly owned subsidiary of
Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation.
Wavegen is due to commission the Mutriku wave energy
project in the Basque country in Spain in early 2009, and is
developing several project opportunities in the UK and
overseas, including the Siadar Wave Energy Project on the
Isle of Lewis with npower renewables.
To strengthen our team we are seeking to recruit the following:
Project Engineer to take on full responsibility for project
engineering and procurement, plus client, contractor and
consultant liaison for current and future projects.
Candidates should demonstrate experience of:
• Project delivery within the renewable energy sector, or in
the power or process industries;
• Commitment to project delivery norms, namely HSE,
Quality, Budget and Schedule;
• Procurement of standard and bespoke equipment;
• Negotiation and preparation of contracts.
Control Systems and Electrical Engineer for the design,
operation and monitoring of oscillating water column wave
energy plant. The ideal candidate will have a range of both
electrical and control system engineering skills and be
effective in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Candidates should demonstrate experience of:
• Design of Control and Electrical Systems.
• Control programming of turbine systems.
• Use of frequency converters for control of induction
machines.
• Development of SCADA systems using LabView.
• Mathematical modelling of electromechanical systems.
• Preparation and understanding of project documentation
such as electrical SLD’s and PID’s.
The positions will be based in Inverness, and will involve
travel and assignments determined by project commitments.
