Mechanical Engineers

Our client specialises and leads the market in the design and manufacture of devices for lifting,
holding, counterbalancing, and providing mechanical support for a wide variety of engineering
applications. To support their on-going commitment to customers and new product development,
they currently have Design Engineering opportunities for Mechanical Engineers to undertake the
following key responsibilities:
■ Taking customer specifications and requirements and converting them into
engineering reality, through design, prototype manufacture, test and production.
■ Improving existing product performance and design specifications
■ Producing product designs using 3D CAD, preferably Solidworks
■ Maintaining and improving design office procedures
To be successful in this varied and interesting role, where you will take a product from design to
production; you will need to be an experienced mechanical engineer, with a broad base of skills in
3D CAD design, product test and development, in addition to having a strong awareness of taking
products into manufacture. You will also need to be familiar with machined parts, both metal and
plastics and have an awareness of pneumatic and hydraulic engineering. As this is a customer
facing role you must be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and be able to
communicate in a positive manner at all levels.

Available immediately for 3 years
You will supervise the running of X-ray Long Beamline Test facility, with
responsibility for ensuring efficient delivery of technical services that support
and enhance the successful delivery of all X-ray Optics projects for the Space
Research Centre. HND or Degree in science or engineering subject, or
equivalent knowledge and expertise is essential.
