If you jump in the car you can head
further afield. There are lots of outdoor activities to get involved in at
Kielder Water, including canoeing, sailing, horse riding and mountain
biking. Or follow Hadrian’s Wall for a day. The archaeological excavations
at Vindolanda still find exciting evidence that the Roman army once
occupied the area.
When you are planning your stay, don’t forget to pack a good book.

For the second year running, this site
has taken the regional title for Dorset.
It is as much a result of the site’s great
location as its excellent facilities.

attraction. The safe beaches here are a
favourite with families. Try Swanage for
lots of sand and walks with great views.
Studland is popular for promising safe
swimming. And be sure to visit the

While you are out, drop in at Corfe
Castle. It may be in ruins, but the castle seems to have 1000 years of
history etched in its stone.
Poole is also worth a visit. The history of the bustling harbour
stretches back centuries and includes tales of pirates. Spend some time
exploring the old quarter and keep an eye out for ancient treasure.
On site there are grass and hardstanding pitches. The pitches have

recently been re-levelled and new electric hook-up points have been
installed. The washblocks received a make-over as well. They are now
heated and have new facilities including family rooms and good access
for the disabled. Dishwashing sinks and a launderette are provided too.
An adventure playground and games room have been added. If that
isn’t South-East enough to Devon keep England the kids busy, hire a bike from Dorset Cornwall reception.
