SlipGrip avoids trips
FibreGrid has completed an installation
of stair tread covers at a large
residential site in Cambridge after it
was called in to installits SlipGrip stair
treads and landing covers to the various
concrete staircases. “Whilst there had
not been any slip accidents in the past,
it was felt that the slip resistance and
contrasting nosing of SlipGrip would
deal with any potential slip issues in the
future.”

Dorgard’s fixture at
Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday FC's latest fixture
involves Dorgard fire door retainers
from Fireco, which are helping to
protect staff and visitors throughout the
stadium. In such a busy, active
environment where fire safety is a key
issue, the club recognised that the
Dorgard wireless solution offered the
simplest, most cost-effective way of
legally holding open fire doors.
Automatically releasing the doors
should the fire alarm sound, Dorgard
complies fully with all relevant British
Standards and EU Directives.

Arch protects Belfast chapel ceiling
When St Anne’s Chapel in Belfast
was recently extended, it was used
as an opportunity to replace the
existing timber ceiling and create
a lighter, brighter interior to
emphasise the new timbers and
make the chapel feel warm and
welcoming. Recommended by the
architect responsible for the project,
Arch Timber Protection treated the
European Redwood Boarding with
its fire retardant Dricon, which
remains the only BBA Certified fire
retardant treatment for construction
timber. The timbers were then
installed precisely to the architect’s
design, creating a visually stunning
ceiling for the chapel, incorporating
skylights and a range of complex
shapes and angles.

Acton takes action
A West London ex-patriate
community of some 80 households
is sleeping more soundly since the
landlord switched all the houses to
monitored and serviced alarm
systems from Secom – and with
the numbers of false alarms and
criminal incidents dramatically
reduced, the property manager can
also sleep well. The Acton houses
are protected by Secom’s hardwired
alarm systems, which the
company offers to the residential
sector with remote monitoring, a
24-hour key response service, and
regular maintenance. Secom also
offers a wire-free system which is
quick to install and comes with the
same support options.
